The Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster film Arjun Reddy (2017) has been the talk of the B-town ever since we got to know that plans are underway for its official remake. Initially, Arjun Kapoor was leading the race to bag the male lead in the movie, but the role eventually went to Shahid Kapoor. There has been a lot of speculations about what would be the title of the Hindi remake. Finally, the wait is over as the makers have just announced the title of the flick. The Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy has been titled as Kabir Singh.
The much-talked-about film, which is being bankrolled by T-Series and Cine1 Studios Production, will be directed by Sandeep Vanga who was also the helmer of the original Telugu film. Talking about the female lead, Kiara Advani has been roped in to play the lead heroine after newcomer Tara Sutaria had to walk out of the project due to her contract with Dharma Productions which is launching her with Student Of The Year 2, also featuring Tiger Shroff and Ananya Panday.
We hear that the makers of Kabir Singh kept the title of the movie very closely guarded over the last two months because they wanted to reveal it at the right time. “When we started work on the Hindi script, it was a very exciting journey. Kabir Singh, as the protagonist’s name, came naturally, considering the character’s graph. Kabir Singh has the same punch and madness of Arjun Reddy,” says director Sandeep Vanga.
The movie will be shot extensively in Mumbai, Delhi and Mussoorie. Shahid Kapoor, who was recently seen in Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018), will sport four different looks in the movie. The Padmaavat (2018) star has been preparing for his look over the last three months. Workshops with all the main actors are right now in full swing. “It’s all about taking Kabir Singh to the next level,” says Vanga.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde, Kabir Singh began production in Mumbai a couple of days ago. The film is slated to release on 21st May 2019.
