John Abraham, who saw the stupendous success of his films Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran and Satyamev Jayate in 2018, has started shooting for his next project Batla House. The Nikkhil Advani directorial stars John in the role of DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav who spearheaded the controversial 2008 Batla House Encounter case of New Delhi. Nikkhil, who has previously directed John Abraham in the 2007 film Salaam-E-Ishq, took to Instagram to share the news of the film’s commencement with film enthusiasts. Also sharing a picture of the cast of the movie, the director wrote, “With great power comes great responsibility!” Grateful to #RiteshShah for knocking at my door and thinking I could be entrusted to tell this story. To all those who have chosen to walk this journey with me… Here we go!!! #BatlaHouse @emmayentertainment @thejohnabraham @mrunalofficial2016 @onlyemmay @madhubhojwani @tseries.official @bakemycakefilms #Aug152019.”
The film, which is based on the encounter that took place on September 19, 2008, when a seven-member Special Cell Team barged into a flat in Batla House, Jamia Nagar in search of Indian Mujahideen Chief Atif Bashir, stars popular television actress Mrunal Thakur as the female lead. Thakur recently made her transition from TV to films with the release of Love Sonia. The actress will essay the role of John Abraham’s wife Nandita. The role is modelled on journalist Shobhna Yadav. Mrunal will join the first shooting schedule on November 1.
Meanwhile, John Abraham is also shooting for the upcoming suspense thriller film, titled Romeo, Akbar Walter (RAW). Interestingly, just like Batla House, RAW also star a television actress – Mouni Roy – as Abraham’s love interest. It looks like John is eyeing the same kind of success in 2019 which he garnered in 2018 with his films.
Batla House is slated to hit screens on 15th August, 2019.
