Aamir Khan returns to co-produce ‘Mogul’ after Subhash Kapoor’s exit as director

It has been almost two weeks when superstar Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao had issued a statement stating that the former would not be part of an upcoming film as one of the key members associated with the project had been accused of sexual harassment by a woman. Though the duo did not name any particular person in their statement, everyone kind of knew who they were referring to. If reports are to be believed, Aamir and Kiran were talking about director Subhash Kapoor who was set to helm the Gulshan Kumar biopic, titled Mogul. Aamir was associated with the project as co-producer. However, as the project was gearing for its production, it turned out that director Subhash Kapoor has been accused of sexual molestation by a woman. After Khan backed out of Mogul, producer Bhushan Kumar sacked Kapoor from the position of the director of the film.

Now we hear that since Subhash Kapoor is no longer associated with the project, Aamir Khan might return to co-produce it again. “The script is close to Aamir and he wants to make the film. Bhushan and he have had a number of meetings since and decided to collaborate on Mogul again. The hunt is on for another director. They are also looking at finalising the cast so they can roll with the film, ASAP,” informs a source close to the development.

Though no official announcement has been made in this regard, the buzz has it that Aamir could play Gulshan Kumar himself in the biopic. Earlier, the same role was offered to Akshay Kumar. But the National Award-winning actor walked out of the film at the last minute owing to some creative differences with Subhash Kapoor. Talking about the female lead, the buzz has it that Sonakshi Sinha has been approached to play one of the lead female characters in the flick.

    More details are awaited.
