Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra’s much-awaited film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar has already faced a lot of delay in its release. And now the Yash Raj Films’ offering is likely to face yet another trouble after its director Dibakar Banerjee has been accused of sexual misconduct. Yes, Banerjee has been accused by actress Payal Rohatgi of sexual misconduct dating back to 2011. Revealing her harassment story, the actress said that the filmmaker had tried to take advantage of her by asking her to lift her shirt and show him her stomach during one of their meetings way back in 2011.
Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, which brings Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra together for the third time after Ishaqzaade (2011) and Namaste England (2018), is scheduled to release in March next year. However, after sexual harassment charges against the helmer, it remains to be seen whether or not the film manages to hit the silver screen on time.
Dibakar Banerjee is not the only filmmaker who has been accused of sexual harassment of late. Besides him, Sajid Khan and Subhash Ghai have also faced sexual harassment allegations. Sajid had to even step down from the position of Housefull 4 director after three women came forward and accused him of sexual misconduct and predatory behaviour. After his exit from the high-profile project, Farhad Samji has come onboard to continue the shooting.
