Saif Ali Khan opens up about playing anti-hero in ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior’ and reuniting with Ajay Devgn

After a lot of speculations, it has been finally confirmed that superstar Saif Ali Khan is playing a pivotal part in Ajay Devgn’s ambitious film Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior. The news has been confirmed by none other than Khan himself. When the National Film Award-winning actor was asked about his role in the period drama, he said, “Let’s just call him an anti-hero. It’s a cool part and I have already started shooting.”

Saif Ali Khan, who started shooting for Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior recently, is reuniting with Ajay Devgn after a huge gap of 12 years. The actors were last seen together in the Vishal Bhardwaj-directed 2006 drama Omkara. When asked about the reunion with Devgn, Khan said, “I respect Ajay and like the way, he looks at life. I’m happy to be a part of this huge historical which will be a screen extravaganza, a post-Baahubali kind of experience in 3D.”

“Ajay loves cinema, is a great producer, and this is the right film to make today as it highlights patriotism and heroism. Kids will love it, so will the rest of the country,” Saif added.

After the success of costume dramas like Baahubali and Padmaavat (2018) in the recent past, several filmmakers have started making such movies. Apart from Ajay Devgn’s Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, the other period drama the audience is waiting for with bated breath is Karan Johar’s Takht, starring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.

Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan is presently busy promoting his upcoming film Baazaar, scheduled to hit screens on 26th October. He will be next seen in Navdeep Singh’s Hunter.
