In the wake of an outburst of sexual harassment allegations against some popular names in Bollywood, a lot of projects have come to a complete halt. Amongst all, the one project that has also borne the brunt of the ongoing MeToo movement is Sacred Games 2, the second instalment of the highly popular Netflix India original, Sacred Games. The much-awaited season 2 of the series was announced a couple of weeks ago. Right after its announcement, Phantom Films, the production house producing the series for Netflix, shut its shops permanently, because one of the founding members of the banner, Vikas Bahl, was accused of sexual misconduct by an employee in 2015. The series was being helmed by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and writer Varun Grover. Later Grover was also accused of sexual harassment by some other woman.
Now reports are doing the rounds that the core team of Sacred Games 2 might change. Saif Ali Khan, who plays the lead role in the series, also hints at the same. “We have been talking constantly. They don’t like me talking about the show anyways. I like working with them, they are brilliant. They want to keep it a secret. But I want to give you a clue. There was a terrible scandal concerning Kevin Spacey and he had a show House of Cards, the show is going on but Spacey is not there. Let that be a clue,” Saif told a newswire. “Why should I bear the brunt and even why anyone of us who are not twisted or molesters?” he added.
Well, as of now, we don’t know anything about the new team which will take the series forward henceforth. But one thing is very clear that Netflix is not going to associate with any proven offender.
