Locking horns with an equally good movie is never a wise thing to do because clashes do dent the business of both the films at the box-office. In that scenario, it is always a great step when many filmmakers decide to avoid the box-office battle and shift their film to some other date, especially when both the films have the same actor playing the lead. As we all knew that Kangana Ranaut’s forthcoming films Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi and Mental Hai Kya were set to hit the ticket window within a very limited gap, but now one of the two films has been deferred.
According to reports, the makers of Mental Hai Kya have taken the decision of pushing back the release date of their much-awaited film to make way for her Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi. “Until recently, it wasn’t clear if Manikarnika would hit silver screens on time, because of pending reshoot and VFX work. But the makers of the film have now said that it will come out on the Republic Day weekend,” a source reveals to a national daily.
The source goes on to add that the historical film is expected to maintain a good hold at the box-office for at least 3-4 weeks. If that happens, it may eat into the business of Kangana Ranaut’s other film Mental Hai Kya and hence, the makers of the latter flick have decided to come on 29th March 2019. “Manikarnika is expected to run for at least a few weeks, and if it stays in theatres for over four weeks, it will eat into the collections of Kangana’s next film. That’s why Ekta Kapoor and Shailesh R. Singh have decided to postpone the release of Mental Hai Kya to March 29.”
Mental Hai Kya reunites Kangana Ranaut with her Queen (2014) co-star Rajkummar Rao. Besides them, the movie also features Amyra Dastur and Satish Kaushik in significant parts.
