After impressing the audience with their recent release Manmarziya (2018), Taapsee Pannu and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap were all psyched up about reteaming for their next venture, Womaniya, which also features Bhumi Pednekar in the parallel lead. However, as the news of Kashyap dissolving his production house, Phantom Films came out, the future of many of his forthcoming projects looked in dark. But if the latest reports are to be believed, Womaniya will mount the shooting floor as per schedule.
As reported by a leading daily, Womaniya will be Anurag Kashyap’s first solo project after Phantom Films shut its shop a couple of days ago. The movie, which is based on the life of octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, will be helmed by debutant Tushar Hiranandani who is a well-known writer. “Anurag and his bankrolling partner are backing debutant director Tushar Hiranandani’s next, Womaniya. It is a biopic on octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar,” a source reveals.
The source goes on to add that Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar shot for the promotional poster of the movie yesterday. “The two leading ladies shot for the first promotional poster yesterday. Shooting begins in February 2019 in the interiors of Uttar Pradesh.”
If we talk about Taapsee Pannu’s other film projects, the actress is currently shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s mystery thriller Badla alongside her Pink (2016) co-star, Amitabh Bachchan. Bhumi Pednekar, on the other hand, will shortly be seen in Abhishek Chaubey’s much-awaited dacoit drama Sonchiraiya, which also stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana. Besides Sonchiraiya, she also plays a pivotal part in Karan Johar’s multi-starrer period drama Takht. The high-profile movie also has Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Janhvi Kapoor in its ensemble cast.
