Confirmed: Phantom Films’ dissolution to not affect Ranveer Singh’s next ‘83’

The news of Phantom Films, one of the leading banners known for producing meaningful content, shutting their shop came as a big shock for almost every Hindi film enthusiast across the globe. After the news of its dissolution spread around like a wildfire, the first question in everyone’s mind was: what would happen to projects which the production house has already announced? While nothing can be said about other projects of the company, filmmaker Kabir Khan’s eagerly awaited film 83 is not going to face any problem due to the untimely closure of Phantom Films. The same has been said by the four founding members of the banner.

Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl have said that they will continue their relationship with Reliance Entertainment as individual filmmakers. Co-producer of 83, Vardhan Induri, also confirmed that Reliance Entertainment is onboard to bankroll the project. “Reliance is onboard this project. Along with the support of an experienced production house like mine, and with Kabir Khan managing the film, things are (in control). Phantom’s internal issues will not affect it. The film will role as per schedule. We start shooting in India in December, which will be followed by a schedule in London from March to April next year”.

For the uninitiated, 83 is a biographical sports drama which chronicles the unprecedented victory of Indian Cricket Team in the 1983 World Cup against West Indies. Actor Ranveer Singh has been roped in to essay the character of the winning team’s captain, Kapil Dev. Vicky Kaushal also plays a pivotal part in the movie. The rest of the cast is yet to be announced.
