After the debacle of Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017), celebrated filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is set to begin work on his next directorial venture which is based on the epic love story of Radha and Krishna. Talking about the project, Imtiaz Ali had said earlier, “I have always been fascinated by the eternal love story of Radha and Krishna. In all of the Indian folklore, I know of no other story, which is so intensely personal and yet has such an epic scale. It has been my dream to step into the world of Radha Krishna.”
Besides his ambitious film on Radha-Krishna, there are a couple of more projects which are in the pipeline at Ali’s production house, Window Seat Films. If reports are to be believed, the director has roped in actor Kartik Aryan to play the male lead in one of the movies. Aryan, who entered showbiz with Luv Ranjan’s romcom Pyaar Ka Punchnama in 2011, has hit the big league with the super success of his last release Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018). The actor has been approached by many leading filmmakers and has nodded a yes to many projects in the past few months, including Luka Chuppi and the Kirik Party (2016) remake, Imtiaz Ali’s film could be one of them.
Though nothing much is known about the project, an entertainment trade magazine reports that it will be a romantic film, just like Ali’s previous films. Ali will direct and produce the movie under his banner. It is set to begin production in February next year.
