Almost every second day, we are getting to hear something or the other about filmmaker Anurag Basu’s forthcoming film, Life In A… Metro 2, a sequel to his 2007 hit Life In A… Metro which had Kangana Ranaut, Shilpa Shetty, Konkona Sen Sharma, Irrfan Khan, and Kay Kay Menon in lead roles. The latest we hear about the project is that actress Fatima Sana Shaikh has replaced Pink (2016) star Taapsee Pannu in the sequel. Her role is said to be a pivotal one in the multi-starrer.
According to reports, it was Basu’s decision to replace Taapsee Pannu with Fatima Sana Shaikh. Reportedly, Pannu was unable to allocate the dates required for the shoot. The dates which Basu needed for his film were blocked for actress’ other projects such as Badla, Womaniya and Tadka. Since Pannu was unable to accommodate a new project in her busy schedule, she let it go.
“Dates were a major conflict and that is the reason why Anurag Basu had to look out for a different option for the lead. And lucky for him, he had already spoken to Fatima in the past. So, when dates did become an issue, it was an easy fix for him this time around,” a source close to the development divulged.
Besides Fatima Sana Shaikh, other actors who are expected to be part of the ensemble cast include Parineeti Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Bachchan, and Ishaan Khatter. An official announcement regarding the final cast is expected to arrive soon.
Meanwhile, Fatima is presently looking forward to the release of her upcoming film Thugs Of Hindostan, wherein she stars alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, and Katrina Kaif. The big-ticket movie hits the silver screen on 8th November 2018.
