Nowadays, Bollywood keeps churning out sequels in abundance, but when filmmaker Firoz Nadiadwala recently announced the third instalment of the blockbuster film series Hera Pheri (2000), the news got every film enthusiast excited. However, from what we hear, fans will have to wait a little longer for Hera Pheri 3 as the makers are yet to lock the final script for the third part of the franchise.
According to a leading daily, superstar Akshay Kumar, who played one of the male leads in Hera Pheri and Hera Pheri Phir Se (2006), has been looking over the script and is not quite happy with how it has shaped. The comic-caper cannot start rolling till the time, Khiladi Kumar is happy with the final draft. “Having worked in a lot of comedies, Akshay needed a few changes in the script. But Indra is busy with the making and release of Total Dhamaal by the end of this year. So, those who are waiting to see Baburao, Shyam, and Raju together again will have to wait till Akshay is happy with the script,” a source close to the development reveals.
The source adds further, “While Firoz lets the director handle the talkie portions on their own, he is a master of action, song and dance sequences. So he usually gets the action and dance choreographer to roll scenes under his supervision. In such a scenario, the script needs to make both of them happy.”
A couple of weeks ago, the makers had announced that Hera Pheri 3 will be rolling into cinemas on Christmas 2019. But looking at the slow progress of the project, we doubt it will meet the deadline for its theatrical release.
