Actress Taapsee Pannu, who received excellent reviews for her rapturous performance in the Anurag Kashyap-directed Manmarziyan (2018), will team up with the renowned filmmaker once again for the upcoming film Womaniya. Joining her on the cast will be beautiful Bhumi Pednekar who was last seen in the highly successful film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. According to reports, the flick will mount the shooting floor towards the end of January, next year.
To be produced by Anurag Kashyap, Womaniya will mark the directorial debut of well-known screenwriter Tushar Hiranandani who has to his credit such successful films as Masti (2004), Grand Masti (2013), Ek Villain (2014) and ABCD 2 (2016). The movie is, reportedly, a biopic of the world’s oldest female sharpshooters, 86-year-old Chandro Tomar and her sister-in-law Prakashi, who is five years younger. Anurag Kashyap will bankroll the project in association with Shibasish Sarkar and Nidhi Parmar.
According to a source close to the development, the film will roll in Uttar Pradesh. The makers all planning to complete the shoot by March. “The team will be leaving for Uttar Pradesh, where the story is based, for a month-long schedule. Both actresses begin prep in the next few days and they are looking to wrap up the film by March.”
Before Bhumi Pednekar came onboard, rumours had it that Kriti Sanon had signed the film to play the parallel lead alongside Taapsee Pannu. However, Sanon quit the film for reasons best known to her. After her exit, Bhumi Pednekar was roped in.
