Within no time, newcomer Janhvi Kapoor has become the latest toast of the town. She impressed the audience with her outstanding performance in Karan Johar’s much-appreciatedDhadak (2018) and showed the world that being veteran actress Sridevi’s daughter is not her only identity; she has got everything to make her own name create a distinct identity for herself. After the widespread success of Dhadak, Janhvi was approached for many projects, but she chose to sign his mentor Karan Johar’s next directorial venture, Takht. The latest we hear that she might star in yet another Dharma Productions’ venture.
Yes, you heard that right. According to reports, filmmaker Shashank Khaitan might finalize Janhvi Kapoor for his next film, Rannbhoomi, which is a period war drama, starring Varun Dhawan in the lead role. However, some media outlets also report that the director is also considering his favourite Alia Bhatt for the same role, whom he has previously directed in such blockbuster films as Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017). But we hear that Shashank is unable to make up his mind and is still confused between Alia and Janhvi. According to reports, Janhvi has higher chances of getting the role because Alia already has too many projects on her plate.
As of now, Janhvi has only one film Takht in her kitty. Though there are rumours that she has also signed the Gunjan Saxena biopic, no official confirmation has been made by the production house. If she signs Rannbhoomi, it will mark her third consecutive collaboration with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Talking about Takht, the Mughal era based film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in significant roles. Set to start rolling later this year, the film will hit screens in 2020.
