No matter how his films perform at the cash counter, Arjun Kapoor remains one of the most favourite actors of many filmmakers in Bollywood. At least, the number of projects that he always has in his pocket suggests so. The latest we hear that the Half Girlfriend (2017) actor is set to replace Sidharth Malhotra in the sequel of one of the latter’s most successful film Ek Villain (2017).
Yes, the buzz has it that Ekta Kapoor and his team are keen to have Arjun Kapoor onboard to headline Ek Villain 2, which has been in the pipeline for quite some now. However, no confirmation has been made by the production house as they are yet to lock the entire cast. Once everyone is finalized for their respective roles, an official announcement could be made.
The original film starred Siddharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in lead roles and was one of the highest grossing movies of 2014. What made the film an instant hit among the audience was its terrific music and excellent performances by the entire star cast. Talks about its sequel first hit the headlines in 2017. Later, director Mohit Suri also confirmed that the work on its script was underway.
Meanwhile, Arjun Kapoor is currently busy promoting his forthcoming film Namaste England, co-starring Parineeti Chopra. It releases on 19th October. He will next be seen in Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, followed by Ashutosh Gowariker’s period war drama, Panipat. Sidharth Malhotra, on the other hand, is shooting for Ekta Kapoor’s Jabariya Jodi with Parineeti Chopra. He will next start work on the Vikram Batra biopic, to be bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
