Earlier slated to lock the horns with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero, filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s next directorial venture Simmba will not be clashing with the Aanand L Rai-directed film anymore. Initially, both films were coming on the same date of 21st December. However, later it turned out that Simmba will hit screens on 28th December.
When Shetty was asked about the reason behind pushing the release date of his film by one week, he said, “One week is enough, where is the competition. We were coming on the same date earlier but then me, Karan Johar and Shah Rukh (Khan) sat and discussed that if we come on the same day then business will be get affected. There was no competition as such. It was like a mutual thing. If the film is good it will run”.
Talking about the movie, Shetty said, “It is a remake and remakes are being made since years. And there’s no harm in making remakes as maybe the younger generation has not caught up with those old films. Simmba has a message in it. And I think it is my best-written film till date”. Well, clashes never do any good to any film. It’s better that the makers of Simmba and Zero understood this in time and decided to avoid the clash.
Produced by Rohit Shetty Films and Dharma Productions, Simmba stars Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood in lead roles. It marks the acting debut of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter, Sara Ali Khan. Zero, on the other hand, stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
