Is Rohit Shetty planning to develop ‘Simmba’ as a franchise?

Making sequels to successful films is not a new thing in show business. Whenever a movie strikes gold at the box-office, producers take no time in announcing a sequel to it. But what has surprised us this time is the fact that now several filmmakers have started planning sequels even before the release of the film. Yes, you heard that right! After Sajid Nadiadwala announced Baaghi 3 even before the release of Baaghi 2, director Rohit Shetty is said to follow the same route. If the buzz is to be believed, the hit director has started planning for the next instalments of his upcoming film Simmba even before its theatrical release.

According to reports, Rohit Shetty has reportedly registered over half a dozen titles for Simmba to create a franchise of the forthcoming cop drama. Jointly produced by Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar, the film stars Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood in lead roles. The movie has been in news even before its official announcement. And now, the reports of its sequels is further going to add to its buzz.

“Producers register movie titles with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA), and Rohit has asked for several titles to be registered as films as well as TV series so that no else can use them. The titles include Simmba 2, Simmba 3, Simmba 4, Simmba 5, Simmba Again, Simmba Continues To Roar, Simmba Phir Se, Simmba Returns, and Simmba Roar Again,” a source reveals to a popular English daily.

Meanwhile, Simmba is set to release on 28th December 2018. Produced under the banners of Rohit Shetty Pictures and Dharma Productions, the movie marks the acting debut of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter, Sara Ali Khan. The newcomer was earlier set to debut with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath. However, the film got delayed due to some unavoidable issues, making Simmba Sara Ali Khan’s debut film.
