John Abraham on ‘Sarfarosh 2’: It’s an honour to be stepping into Aamir Khan’s role

2018 has been a phenomenal year for John Abraham as his films Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran and Satyameva Jayate did not only garner great critical acclaim but also pulled in huge moolah at the ticket window. Besides delivering two back-to-back hits, John also signed a number of exciting project with a sequel to the Aamir Khan starrer Sarfarosh (1999) being one of them. Yes, John is getting into the mighty shoes of Mr Perfectionist in Sarfarosh 2, which will be helmed by John Matthew Matthan who also directed the original film two decades ago.

John is presently busy shooting for Robbie Grewal’s much-awaited espionage-thriller Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW). After wrapping up the film is the next few months, the actor will move on to shoot Sarfarosh 2. John is quite psyched up about starting work on the film and fill in Aamir Khan’s shoes.

In his recent interaction with an Indian daily, John reveals how Sarfarosh 2 landed in his lap. “John (Matthew Matthan) met me and said, ‘Hey, I need a younger character for Sarfarosh 2. Are you interested in doing it?’ I was more than happy, and then I decided to produce it, too. I had a lot of faith in John.”

When asked if he had a word with Aamir Khan before giving a nod to the sequel, John said, “I didn’t chat with Aamir. John and he have been talking. I am sure he’s got Aamir’s blessings to do this. Aamir is someone I am deeply fond of, and I’m a big fan of his. It’s an honour to be stepping into a role that has such a big history.”

Besides Romeo Akbar Walter and Sarfarosh 2, John will also be seen in Nikkhil Advani’s next, Batla House. The film is set to mount the floor by the end of the year. He is also producing and starring in an action franchise.
