Superstar Shahid Kapoor, who is gearing himself up for the release of his first movie, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, with Shree Narayan Singh, will join forces with the director again for a period drama. In his recent interview with a newswire, the director revealed that after the release of Batti Gul Meter Chalu, he will soon start work on a hard-hitting subject with Kapoor.
Reportedly, when the duo was shooting Batti Gul Meter Chalu in Uttarakhand, Singh had shared an idea with Shahid which the actor liked a lot and both decided to work on it soon. “The next film with Shahid is not based on any social issue. It is a completely different kind of a film. It is in the hard-hitting space. No one has seen Shahid in that space before. Work on the script is on,” said the director.
Singh is also making a biopic on the ‘Father of the White Revolution’ in India, Dr Verghese Kurien, for which he has joined hands with producer Ekta Kapoor. Talking about the project, he said, “At the moment, scripting is on. It is a period film. We are starting the film in 1947. I want to do proper research before going on floors. I want to be fully prepared for this film right from the script to the location to the VFX. I want to have a proper storyboard for it.”
Batti Gul Meter Chalu, also starring Shraddha Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma is scheduled to hit screens on 21st September 2018. The film focuses on the issue of electricity scarcity and unreasonable bills in interiors of the country.
