A couple of months ago, rumours were rife that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had been approached to get into the shoes of legendary actress Sadhana in the remake of black-and-white classic Woh Kaun Thi (1964). Even Aish had also confirmed the news that the makers wanted her to play the female lead in the remake. She had also said that she would think about coming on board only when the script is ready. But if fresh reports are to be believed, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been replaced by Bipasha Basu who has been her co-star in Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom 2 (2006).
According to a report published by a premier film trade magazine, Woh Kaun Thi remake, which was earlier being made by KriArj Entertainment, will now be produced under the banner of the recently launched production house, Studio Five Elements. The studio has been set up by Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor of KriArj Entertainment in association with three other investors. With the change in the production house, a lot seems to have changed on the casting front of the film as well. Reportedly, Bipasha will now play the female lead in the flick, while for the male lead, producer Arjun N Kapoor has been finalized.
As long as we remember, Shahid Kapoor was supposed to play the leading man in the movie. Buzz had it back then that the actor would start the shoot after taking blessings from Manoj Kumar, the star of the original film. But looks like, the entire casting has gone for rejigging.
The makers are planning to roll the camera on 10th October. A new director will helm the Woh Kaun Thi remake.
