One of the finest Hindi filmmakers who never ceases to surprise the audience with his intriguing stories and innovative filmmaking, Sriram Raghavan is looking forward to the release of his next directorial venture, Andhadun. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte and Tanu in principal roles, the movie is a mystery thriller, slated to hit the silver screen on October 5.
After Andhadun, the celebrated filmmaker will reteam with producer Dinesh Vijan for whom he directed Agent Vinod (2012) and Badlapur (2015) in the past. Their next will be a biopic on Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. The work on the script is currently underway. It’s being written by Ritesh Shah. “Ritesh Shah is writing the script, it’s actually two stories in one film — one of a soldier martyred at a young age and the other, of his father. I will start casting after the script is locked and spend some time prepping for it. We start shooting next year,” informs Raghavan.
When asked about any reunion with actor Saif Ali Khan after directing him in Ek Haseena Thi (2004) and Agent Vinod, the filmmaker revealed that they do have plans to collaborate again and talks have been initiated. “Yes, Saif and I are discussing something.”
Talking about his upcoming film Andhadun, Sriram shares that he wanted to make the movie with Varun Dhawan, but since the actor got busy with other projects, he had to hunt for new actors for the film. “Then I got a text from Ayushmann saying that he’d heard I had a script and would like to audition for it. I warned him it wasn’t a slice-of-life kind of films he does but I narrated the story to him and he loved it. I also realised that since he’s a musician and a good actor, why not cast him?”
