‘Uri’, a film on surgical strikes, wrapped up!

The team of the forthcoming Hindi film ‘Uri’ has completed the entire shooting schedule of the movie. Starring Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam in principal characters, the movie went on floors a couple of months back in June under the direction of debutant Aditya Dhar. After shooting the major chunk of the film in Serbia, the makers wrapped up the rest of the shoot recently in Mumbai.

Yami Gautam, who is also busy promoting her next release ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’, is elated to have been a part of ‘Uri’. Talking about ‘Uri’, she says that it’s a special film for her. “‘Uri’ is such a special film for me because of the story. It has been a hectic and intense shoot but I absolutely loved every part of it. The film enabled me to try out something new with my look and mentally prepare for a role I was quite kicked about. I cannot wait for people to see what Aditya Dhar has done with his directorial debut and with co-actors like Vicky Kaushal, it was super fun.”

For the uninitiated, ‘Uri’ is based on the surgical strikes conducted by Indian army across the border, which claimed the lives of approximately 38 terrorists. It was carried out in response to a militant attack on an army camp in Uri, Jammu Kashmir, killing 19 Indian soldiers.

Besides Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam, ‘Uri’ also stars Kirti Kulhari and Vikramjeet Virk in important roles. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala under his production banner, RSVP. It is expected to hit the silver screen by the year-end. The official release date is yet to be announced by the makers.
