Though his much ambitious film ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ (2018), which released on 10th of this month, failed to leave any mark at the box-office, superstar Kamal Haasan is psyched up about his next movie ‘Indian 2’, which will be a sequel to his National Award-winning movie ‘Indian’(1996). Just like ‘Indian’, its sequel will also be directed by renowned South Indian filmmaker Shankar who is currently busy with the post-production work of his next ‘2.0’, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. The latest update on the project is that the team is planning to roll the camera in November this year. The news has been confirmed by popular trade analyst, Ramesh Bala.
Bala took to his Twitter handle and wrote that the film will mount the shooting floor in November and will release on Diwali next year. “#Indian2 @shankarshanmugh and Ravi Varman are in Kadapa, Andra Pradesh for location hunt. Shooting Starts in November planned for Diwali 2019 Release #Hindustani2 #Bharateeyudu2,” read his tweet.
The original film ‘Indian’ had Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar as female leads. As far as the female lead in ‘Indian 2’ is concerned, several names have been thrown around, but the makers are yet to announce any actress’ name officially. However, some media outlets have reported that Nayanthara is close to bagging the lead role. Buzz also has it that Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn may also be seen in the movie.
‘Indian 2’ will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions. Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is currently busy with his newly launched party and will be commencing the shoot in November.
