Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who was last seen in the Umesh Shukla-directed ‘102 Not Out’, will start shooting for heist-thriller ‘Aankhen 2’ in 2019. As the title suggests itself, the movie is a sequel to the hit 2002 film ‘Aankhen’, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal and Sushmita Sen in principal roles. A sequel to the film was first announced by producer Gaurang Doshi in 2016. However, before the project would start rolling, it found itself embroiled in a legal trouble. The latest sequel has been planned by filmmaker Anees Bazmee. It will be bankrolled by Tarun Agarwal in association with Eros International. 75-year-old Bachchan will play the male lead in the sequel.
“Amit Ji liked the script and has given his nod to the project. Anees has begun prep and will start shooting in 2019. The team is targeting an early 2020 release,” a source close to the development reveals. When the official spokesperson of the production house was contacted, he confirmed the development.
Talking about the rest of the cast, we hear that Sushant Singh Rajput and Vicky Kaushal have been approached to play two important characters in the movie. The makers are also considering roping in Jackie Chan for an important part. “And since the story revolves around a casino this time owned by a Chinese, the makers are considering Jackie Chan for the part,” adds the source.
Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan is currently busy with Yash Raj Films’ ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’, which also stars Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the movie releases on 7th November 2018. Apart from that, Big B will also be seen in Dharma Productions’ ‘Brahmastra’, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna and Dimple Kapadia.
