Actor Sanjay Kapoor, who was recently seen in the Star Plus show ‘Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara’, is all set to play his niece Sonam Kapoor’s father in the upcoming Hindi film ‘The Zoya Factor’. Adapted from Anuja Chauhan’s book of the same name, the movie stars Sonam Kapoor and South Indian sensation Dulquer Salmaan in lead roles. Dulquer, who was recently seen in the Akarsh Khurana-directed road trip movie ‘Karwaan’ (2018), will play the role of an Indian skipper while Sonam will be seen playing an executive in an advertising agency.
Sanjay has been roped in to play the role of Sonam’s father in the movie. When the actor was asked about the same, he confirmed the news, saying, “I received a call from the producer when I was in New York. Later, director Abhishek Sharma called me up to give me a gist of the story and discuss my part.” The actor adds that he was waiting for a good film to be a part of and ‘The Zoya Factor’ is the one. “I was waiting for a good film to come my way and this just seems perfect.”
Sanjay says further, “Besides ‘Mubarakan’ (2017), I haven’t worked with my family in any film. So, it’s an exciting opportunity for me to act alongside Sonam. We have started the reading sessions and I can’t wait to commence the shoot. We are a close-knit khandaan and Sonam has grown up in front of my eyes. She is like my daughter, and there’s nothing better than working with your own family.”
‘The Zoya Factor’ will be helmed by Abhishek Sharma, who recently tasted success with the John Abraham starrer Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018). It is slated for release on April 5, 2019.
