Biopics are in trend in Bollywood, and as we all know that when a formula gets successful at the box-office, everyone starts following it. But Sunny Deol is never known to join the bandwagon. However, when in one of his recent interviews, the action star was asked if he would be interested in making a biopic on his father veteran actor Dharmendra, he said though the idea is enticing, there should be a good writer and a filmmaker who can come up with an interesting story to translate his father’s life on the silver screen.
“I think making biopics is a trend that is going on. It is a good idea and would be nice to make a film on him (Dharmendra), only if we can get a good writer and director to make the film.”
When asked if he would like to play the role of his father on the screen because he looks very much like him, he said, “I really have not given it a thought. I know the resemblance is there. It is not only me, but my son (Karan Deol) can also play the younger part of the character. But everything is dependent on the story.”
About a possible biopic, the actor added, “It cannot be random. There should be a writer who would invest time in it. It is not going to be that easy because my father will be involved in it. Since everyone knows everything about him, it must be put out in a nice way. The research will not be a problem because my father is there to share the story”.
Sunny Deol is currently busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se’, which also stars Dharmendra, Bobby Deol and Kriti Kharbanda. The film is set to enter cinemas on 31st August 2018.
