In this age where getting a solo date to release a movie has become a dream, filmmakers seem to have gotten accustomed to the trend of their big-ticket movies clashing with other high-profile films at the box-office. Looks like the success of ‘Gold’ and ‘Satyamev Jayate’, which recently clashed with each other on Independence Day and emerged as hits, has given a boost to the confidence of many more filmmakers to not worry too much about box-office battles. The latest clash that has come to the fore is going to take place between two National Film Award-winning actors of Bollywood – Ajay Devgn and Kangana Ranaut.
Devgn is coming up with his much-talked-about film ‘De De Pyaar De’ on the same date which was earlier booked by Ekta Kapoor to release her highly anticipated movie ‘Mental Hai Kya’, headlined by Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao. ‘De De Pyaar De’ is produced by ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ (2018) fame director Luv Ranjan in association with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. Helmed by well-known editor Akiv Ali, the romcom also stars seasoned actress Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh in important roles. ‘Mental Hai Kya’, on the other hand, is a psychological thriller, directed by renowned South Indian filmmaker Prakash Kovelamudi. Both films are set to battle it out on 22nd February 2019.
Initially, ‘De De Pyaar De’ was supposed to make its entry into cinemas on October 19, 2018, during the festivities of Dussehra. But looks like the makers have opted for a new release date to avoid the box-office clash with Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s ‘Namaste England’, starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles.
