Though Ranveer Singh has some amazing films lined up for release in upcoming years, one project of him which all film enthusiasts are waiting for with bated breath is sports drama ‘83’, which chronicles the 1983 cricket World Cup victory by Indians against West Indies. The actor plays legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in the movie, who captioned the winning team in 1983.
When the project was announced in 2017, director Kabir Khan had said that Ranveer Singh would train himself under the members of the winning team, including Kapil Dev. Not only Singh, many other actors who play cricketers in the movie will also train under the winning team of 1983. The latest we hear that Kapil Dev has decided to take some time off to train Ranveer in November. Apart from teaching him various nuances of the sports, the legendary cricketer will also help him learn his signature outswinger.
Talking about this preparation schedule, co-producer Vishnu Induri says, “Ranveer will start prepping from November. Kabir and he are in touch with Kapil, who will fly down to Mumbai for a week in November to help Ranveer prep for the role.”
The producer reveals that actors for the role of players will be finalized soon. “Every actor will be spending quality time with their muse. The members of the ’83’ team have come on board as consultants.”
The makers are planning to begin production in December this year. “After shooting some scenes in India in December, we’ll head to London in March for the second leg. The World Cup matches, including the final, will be shot in that schedule.”
‘83’ was earlier scheduled to release in 2019. But now, it will hit the silver screen on April 10, 2020.
