Janhvi Kapoor on being cast in ‘Takht’: It hasn’t sunk in yet

Newcomer Janhvi Kapoor, who made her smashing acting debut with Shashank Khaitan’s recently released film ‘Dhadak’ (2018), is all set to star in yet another Dharma Productions’ movie, ‘Takht’. The film, which revolves around two warring brothers of Mughal Empire who want to capture their ailing father’s throne, will be directed by renowned filmmaker Karan Johar. If we keep ‘Student Of The Year’ (2012) aside, Karan is mostly known for working with well-established actors. However, despite being just one film old, Janhvi has secured a role in his forthcoming historical drama.

When Janhvi Kapoor was asked about her reaction after being cast in the movie, the actress said that she is still in shock and the feeling has not sunk as yet. “What can I say? I am still in shock. It hasn’t sunk in yet. It’s a big deal for me and I am so eternally grateful and feel so blessed that Karan has allowed me to be part of this journey. I am so excited and hope to do a good job… I am just overwhelmed right now,” said the young actress.

Takht is a multi-starrer. Besides Janhvi Kapoor, the historical movie also stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor. Ranveer will play the character of Dara Shikoh in the film, while Vicky Kaushal has been roped in to play Aurangzeb. Anil Kapoor has been cast for the character of ailing Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan.

The film is being touted as the costliest and most ambitious project of Dharma Productions. It has been written by Sumit Roy and Hussain Haidry. It is slated to hit the silver screen in 2020. An official release date will be announced soon.
