An upcoming Hindi film which was initially named ‘Shotgun Shaadi’ has gone through a title change. Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles, the movie will now be called ‘Jabariya Jodi’ as it revolves around the subject of forced marriage. The flick is being produced by Ekta Kapoor. It reunites Sidharth and Parineeti after four years as the duo was last seen together in Phantom Films and Dharma Productions’ romcom ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ (2014).
“As it’s based on pakadwa vivaah, the makers felt that this was an apt name. In Bhojpuri, jabariya means zabardasti, so the title refers to a couple who is forced to get married. The two actors have also shot for the posters before leaving for Lucknow, so they should be out soon,” lets on a well-placed source.
If the source is to be believed, it was Sidharth Malhotra who suggested the new title after going through the script of the film. “He came across this word during the readings and told the team about it. They liked it instantly.”
“Balaji will always be special because till date, my biggest film (Ek Villain) is with Ekta. That’s why the thought of calling her up about this script earlier this year was obvious. She’s good at presenting and marketing a film. We have had great energies which have worked for us in ‘Ek Villain’ and we are going to amplify it further with this movie,” Sidharth revealed to a popular daily.
Besides ‘Jabariya Jodi’, Sidharth will also be seen in the Vikram Batra biopic, which might go to the sets later this year. Parineeti Chopra’s line-up includes films like ‘Namaste England, ‘Kesari’ and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’.
