In the season where we see some of the other star offspring entering the movies almost every second month, another star kid is all set to take a dive into the dazzling world of Bollywood. We are talking about actor Vardhan Puri, who is the grandson of veteran Hindi film actor Amrish Puri. Taking the rich legacy of his late Amrish Puri forward, the young actor will debut with a romantic thriller, unlike his grandfather who is mostly known for his iconic negative roles. The untitled project will be bankrolled by producer Jayantilal Gada of PEN India Ltd.
Earlier, Vardhan Puri was about to make his acting debut with a period film by Jayantilal Gada. However, the project could not take off due to various reasons and be shelved eventually. Later, Gada approached him for another project which Puri said yes to immediately. “I was supposed to start off with a period drama with Jayanti bhai, but for some reason that didn’t work out. He approached me later for this film which I loved and immediately gave my nod to. It’s a performance-oriented role and in terms of treatment it will be in a space similar to ‘Gone Girl’ (2014 American psychological thriller)”.
Before making his acting debut with Jayantilal Gada’s production venture, Vardhan has assisted Habib Faisal on ‘Ishaqzaade’ (2011) and ‘Daawat-e-Ishq’ (2014), and Manish Sharma on ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ (2013). Currently, he is attending workshops and undergoing training for his debut role.
If all goes well, the untitled film will mount the shooting floor in the month of September and will be shot in North India. The director and the leading lady for the film will be finalized soon. Recce is currently on in Delhi and Shimla.
