The casting team of Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming film ‘Cheat India’ has finally found the leading lady for the much-talked-about project. Yes, newcomer Shreya Dhanwanthary has been cast to play the female part in the flick. Besides Emraan Hashmi and Shreya Dhanwanthary, the movie will also see Jim Sarbh and Manav Kaul in its principal cast. Before venturing into the movies, Shreya has worked in a number of TVCs for a plethora of such brands as Amazon, Pepperfry, Gionee, Fogg, Fasttrack, 7Up, to name a couple of few. Apart from TV commercials, the newcomer has also done a couple of digital series for various digital platforms. She has recently been roped in for an Amazon Prime original series ‘The Family Man’.
Talking about ‘Cheat India’, Shreya says, “I earned my Engineering degree but I’m not blind to the crimes that infest our education system. I am delighted to have this as my first feature. Its subject is topical, compelling and engaging: one that students and parents alike will relate to. I am looking forward to working with Soumik (Sen), Emraan (Hashmi) and the producers, T-Series, Ellipsis Entertainment and EHF. I am in great hands!”
In an official statement, the makers revealed that they auditioned almost 50 girls before settling for Shreya. “We auditioned as many as 50 girls before zeroing down on Shreya. She is a completely natural and confident and effortless in front of the camera. We were also looking for someone with inherent simplicity and charm, and she ticked all the boxes on our wish-list.”
‘Cheat India’ is being bankrolled by Emraan Hashmi in association with Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Tanuj Garg and Atul Kasbekar. It’s set to release on 25th January 2019.
