According to reports, actress Taapsee Pannu, who was most recently seen in the Shaad Ali directed ‘Soorma’ (2018), has been approached to play the lead role in an upcoming Hindi film. The yet-to-be-titled project will be a biopic on Indian woman cricketer Mithali Raj. Reportedly, Viacom18 Motion Pictures has acquired the rights to make a biopic on the cricketer and the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team. If Taapsee agrees to come onboard, it will be her second sports-based film after ‘Soorma’.
When Pannu was contacted for a confirmation, she said it’s too early to divulge any information on the project. However, she did accept to have been approached to play Mithali Raj in the biopic. Talking to a popular daily, Pannu explained, “The script is not in place so it’s too early to talk about it. Right now, they are collecting material and the script has not been written yet. If they offer me, I will be very happy. I really want to do a sports biopic”.
Pannu will shortly be seen in Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Mulk’ wherein she shares the screen space with Rishi Kapoor. The film rolls into cinemas on 3rd August 2018.
