Here’s why Aamir Khan has held off ‘Osho’ biopic

Bollywood is buzzing with the news that Aamir Khan has tucked yet another high-profile project in his pocket. Yes, a biopic on spiritual and quite controversial Guru Osho. Reportedly, Khan will play the spiritual guru in the movie which will be produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Director Shakun Batra, whose last directorial ‘Kapoor & Sons’ (2016) was a massive money spinner at the ticket window, will helm the movie. Earlier, it was being reported that Aamir would begin shooting for the movie in December in Pune. However, if the latest reports are to be believed, Mr Perfectionist has held off the project for a while.

As per a fresh report, though Dharma Productions has initiated talks to Khan, the actor has yet not given green signal to the much ambitious project. Khan will take the final call only after the release of his forthcoming movie ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’, produced by Yash Raj Films.

“‘Thugs Of Hindostan’, which stars Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif, is one of YRF’s most ambitious films to date. Aamir is working closely with the marketing team and spearheading the promotional campaign, and so he cannot distance himself from the project. He doesn’t like to just skim the surface of a script before giving it his nod. He likes to get into the nitty-gritty and find out every detail. Hence, the project on Osho will happen only when Aamir gets free.”

Meanwhile, Aamir had also expressed his desire to make a series of films on Indian epic Mahabharata. A couple of months ago, the project was everywhere in the news. However, it has been a while since we have not heard much on it.
