Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj was quite psyched up about reteaming with versatile actor Irrfan Khan for an untitled film which also starred Deepika Padukone in the lead role. However, before the shoot could begin in Nepal, things took a drastic turn and the actor Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with a rare type of brain cancer also called Neuroendocrine a tumour. As soon as Bhardwaj came to know about Khan’s rare disease, he put the project on hold for an indefinite time. Over the period of the last 3-4 months, a lot has been said and written about the said project. While some say it is jinxed, others feel it has been shelved forever. However, director Vishal Bhardwaj is quite hopeful that the project would roll right after Irrfan recovers from his bad head and comes back to India.
Talking about the same, in his latest interaction with an English daily, Bhardwaj said, “The moment Irrfan recovers and comes back, we will start rolling. It will happen. By God’s grace, he is recovering, and we are all praying for him. We hope he comes back soon and starts working.” The director added, “I keep chatting with him, and these days he’s singing songs, recording them, and sending them on WhatsApp. He’s also watching cricket.”
Meanwhile, Bhardwaj is busy with the post-production work of his next directorial venture called ‘Patakha’. Starring ‘Dangal’ (2016) star Sanya Malhotra and popular TV actress Radhika Madan along with ace comedian Sunil Grover, the movie wrapped up its last schedule in Mount Abu recently. The Rajasthan set drama revolves around two warring sisters, Badki and Chutki, and is set to hit the silver screen on 28th September 2018.
‘Patakha’ has been bankrolled by Arjun Kapoor of Kyta Productions.
