Mouni Roy, who started her career in 2007 with the Ekta Kapoor produced iconic television series ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, was one of the biggest names in the Indian television space when she decided to leave her old roots and branch out to the movies. Her debut film ‘Gold’ is gearing up for its release on 15th August, 2018. Helmed by Reema Kagti, the sports drama film features superstar Akshay Kumar in the lead role. After ‘Gold’, the ‘Naagin’ actress will be seen in Dharma Productions’ fantasy adventure drama movie ‘Brahmastra’, followed by a project with hulk man John Abraham.
The latest we hear that the sizzling actress has bagged yet another big-ticket movie and that too opposite none other than national award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao. According to reports, Mouni has been roped in to play the role of Rao’s wife in the forthcoming Hindi movie titled ‘Made in China’. The film, which was announced recently, revolves around a struggling Gujarati businessman and a string of bizarre things he does to become a successful entrepreneur.
‘Made In China’ is all set to mount the shooting floor in September in Ahmedabad and China. The movie will be directed by national award-winning Gujarati filmmaker Mikhail Musale. It will be his first Bollywood offering. The project is being produced by producer Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films.
The news has been confirmed by well-known film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who took to Twitter to share the details. “#NewsAlert: Mouni Roy to play Rajkummar Rao’s wife in quirky comedy #MadeInChina. Directed by Mikhail Musale. Produced by Dinesh Vijan. Starts Sept 2018 in Mumbai, followed by Gujarat and China,” he wrote.
