After being postponed four times, ‘2.0’ to now enter theatres on 29th Nov, 2018

Making a great film takes a lot of time, money and efforts. But the amount of time, money and efforts filmmaker S. Shankar and his team have invested in the production of much-awaited ‘2.0’ is beyond belief. But all’s well that ends well, because after facing a series of delays in the past, the film will soon see the light of the day. Yes, the makers have just announced the new release date for the movie. Headlined by Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson, ‘2.0’ will roll into cinemas on 29th November, 2018.

Director S. Shankar, who has to his credit such successful movies as ‘Gentleman’ (1993), ‘Indian’ (1996), ‘Jeans’ (1998), ‘Nayak’ (2001) ‘Sivaji: The Boss’ (2007), ‘Enthiran’ (2010) and ‘I’ (2015), revealed the new release date of ‘2.0’ on his Twitter handle where he wrote, “Hi everyone… at last, the vfx companies promised the final delivery date of the vfx shots. The movie will release on nov 29th 2018.”

Later, Lyca Productions, the production house bankrolling the mega-budgeted movie, also tweeted the new release date of the movie. “Get ready for the ultimate clash, #2Point0 on 29th November, 2018!”

‘2.0’ is being made on a massive budget of ₹ 400 crores. It is the costliest film produced by Indian cinema to date. Since the makers promised a great story, spectacular performances and never-seen-before VFX, the audience has been waiting for the movie with bated breath. However, the wait has turned out to be quite long this time, because the film has missed its release four times in the past.

‘2.0’ was first slated to hit screens on 18th October, 2017. But since the post-production work on the movie was still pending, the makers shifted it to 25th January 2018. However, a lot was still needed to be done as far as achieving new standards of VFX were concerned, so the flick was postponed to April 14, 2018, and then April 27, 2018. This is the fifth time when the makers have announced a new release date. We just wish they stick to 29th November, 2018 release date no matter what.
