South director planning a Hindi film with Varun Dhawan

Varun Dhawan is a shining star of Bollywood, who could soon become the next superstar of the industry. Ever since he made his acting debut with Karan Johar’s college romance drama film ‘Student Of The Year’ in 2012, he has starred in almost 10 films to date and none of them have performed poorly at the box-office. It’s a feat which no other actor from the current crop can boast of. His enviable track record makes him the favourite of many filmmakers in the industry. Earlier, Dhawan was popular among Bollywood directors only, but now it seems his popularity has reached down South also. What makes us think so? Well, we have heard that the talented actor has been approached by a hit South Indian director who wants to make a Hindi film with him in the lead role.

Buzz has it that filmmaker Sukumar, who last helmed the Ram Charan and Samantha Akkineni starrer ‘Rangasthalam’ (2018), has approached Varun Dhawan to headline the cast of his next movie, which he is planning to make in Hindi. “Sukumar is now completing his crime thriller with Mahesh Babu who is riding high on the success of ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ (2018). After that, he wants to start his film with Varun. Sukumar had a very productive meeting with Varun regarding the project and the actor showed a keen interest. Varun can do the project once he wraps up ‘Sui Dhaaga’ as well as ‘Kalank’, depending on how other filmmakers who want to make films with him are ready enough with their pre-production,” a source lets on.

Varun is currently busy with Abhishek Verman’s multi-starrer ‘Kalank’ and Sharat Katariya’s ‘Sui Dhaaga’. Besides these two big-ticket films, he will also be seen in choreographer-turned-filmmaker Remo D’souza’s dance film, which also stars Katrina Kaif. Then there is Shashank Khaitan’s war drama movie ‘Rannbhoomi’. Amid his tight schedule, it will be interesting to see how Varun manages to squeeze out time for Sukumar’s next.
