After months of speculations, it has been finally confirmed that global star Priyanka Chopra is all set to headline filmmaker Shonali Bose’s next directorial venture, ‘The Sky Is Pink’. The project has been in the news for a long time, but there was no official confirmation. However, with the announcement of PC as the female lead, the makers might launch it very soon. Talking about the male lead, we hear that the makers are in talks with actor-producer Farhan Akhtar. If he agrees to come onboard, another announcement could be made soon. Earlier, Abhishek Bachchan was in the news for playing the male lead. But he, reportedly, turned down the offer.
While Shonali Bose, who previously directed the critically acclaimed film ‘Margarita With A Straw’ (2014), will helm the project, Siddharth Roy Kapur will bankroll it under his banner, Roy Kapur Films. The film was announced on their Instagram account. “We can’t keep calm for this one! Good to have you back @priyankachopra! Stay tuned everyone, as we are bringing you something really exciting,” read the Instagram post.
For the uninitiated, the film is a biopic on Aisha Chaudhary, who became a motivational speaker followed by an author after being diagnosed with an immune deficiency order at the age of 13. ‘Dangal’ (2016) and ‘Secret Superstar’ (2017) fame actress Zaira Wasim is rumoured to have bagged the role of Chaudhary. Her name has not been officially announced, though.
Priyanka Chopra, who was last seen in Prakash Jha’s ‘Jai Gangaajal’ in 2016, is returning to Bollywood with Ali Abbas Zafar’s mega-budgeted ‘Bharat’, after being busy with her Hollywood commitments. ‘Bharat’ stars Salman Khan as the male lead with Disha Patani and Tabu also playing significant roles.
