Released in 2013, ‘Go Goa Gone’ was not just a commercially successful film, but it also introduced Indian audiences to home-grown zombies. Yes, the Raj & DK directorial was the first Bollywood movie which attempted to explore the zombie-comedy genre which has been well-worn in Hollywood. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Puja Gupta and Anand Tiwari in important roles, ‘Go Goa Gone’ still finds a hoard of audiences on television. Speculations about a possible sequel to the hit movie have surfaced in media on several occasions in the past. Now, Saif Ali Khan, who won rave reviews for playing Borish, confirms that he is returning to play the much-loved character once again in the sequel, titled ‘Go Goa Gone 2’.

“We are doing ‘Go Goa Gone 2’. It’s an exciting idea and I’ve really liked it. I will return as Boris in the sequel. But this time, I’ll be on a different mission. Raj and DK have found an interesting premise for the second instalment, which is in sync with the first part. They are currently writing the script,” said the National award-winning actor.

When asked what led him to be a part of the sequel, he said, “Raj and DK have a unique sense of humour. Like the earlier movie, this one, too, will be equally quirky. That’s what drew me to it when they discussed the idea with me.” The ‘Hum Tum’ (2004) actor further revealed that Kunal Khemu and Vir Das from the original cast would be retained in the sequel as well. “The other characters played by Kunal Khemu and Vir Das will also be a part of it. We start filming next January.”

Saif Ali Khan, who is currently shooting for Navdeep Singh’s untitled period drama, is hopeful that just like ‘Go Goa Gone’, the audience would love ‘Go Goa Gone 2’ too.  “People enjoyed it and I’m sure we will entertain them with the second movie, too. If this one also works well, we will have a good franchise.”

Khan will shortly be seen in his debut digital series ‘Sacred Games’ by Netflix.
