Well, this is called destiny! Newcomer Tara Sutaria is yet to make her big Bollywood debut with Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year 2, co-starring Tiger Shroff and Ananya Panday, but the actress has already bagged her second film, and that too opposite none other than supremely talented and handsome Shahid Kapoor. Yes, Sutaria has been finalized to romance Shahid in the Hindi remake of Telugu hit ‘Arjun Reddy’ (2017). While Shahid has been cast to fill the shoes of young Telugu actor Vijay Devarakonda, 22-year-old Tara has been locked to play the female lead role which was essayed by Shalini Pandey in the original movie.
“The remake will be tailored for a more North Indian audience. The leading lady is an innocent and vulnerable character so the makers were keen to have a relatively new face. The casting has been underway since the last six months,” a source close to the development reveals, adding that Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor were also in the race to bag the plum role. However, the makers decided to go with Tara.
The Hindi remake will be helmed by South Indian filmmaker Sandeep Vanga, who directed the original. It will mark his directorial debut in Bollywood. The film will be bankrolled by producers Ashwin Varde and Murad Khetani, who have reportedly spent crores to acquire the remake rights of the movie. The makers are currently out to receive locations. “The recce is nearing completion and the film is expected to roll in August,” the source adds.
Meanwhile, Tara has just begun shooting for the second schedule of ‘Student Of The Year 2’. Helmed by Punit Malhotra, the film is scheduled for its theatrical bow on 23rd November 2018. Shahid, on the other hand, will next be seen in Shree Narayan Singh’s ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’, with Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam.
