After the humongous success of their recent outing ‘Veere Di Wedding’ (2018), which went on to rack up over Rs. 80 crores and counting, writer-director Shashanka Ghosh and producer Rhea Kapoor are joining forces once again to make a biopic on Indian yogi and bestselling author Jaggi Vasudev, popularly known as Sadhguru. Shashanka, who is currently busy writing the script, will submit the final draft to the Isha Foundation, run by Padma Vibhushan Sadhguru, in the next couple of months.
Talking about the untitled project, Shashanka says, “I love the concept of a biopic because there is a huge degree of truth already existing through historical events. The story of a human being becomes a biopic when they have done something worthy of sharing, something people have been inspired by.” The director reveals that the producer of his first film ‘Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II’ (2003), wanted him to work on Kishore Kumar biopic some 12 years ago but that project could never materialize.
The Sadhguru biopic will mark the third collaboration between Ghosh and Rhea Kapoor after ‘Khoobsurat’ (2014) and ‘Veere Di Wedding’. The director is quite happy about teaming up with her again. He is confident that if Rhea ever plans a sequel to ‘Veere Di Wedding’, she will definitely consider him to helm it. “If a sequel to ‘Veere Di Wedding’ ever happens, I know Rhea will certainly consider me for the director’s chair. I have watched Rhea grow as a creative producer, she is a gutsy woman,” says he.
For the uninitiated, Sadhguru works with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. The eminent personality was voted among the 100 most powerful Indians in 2012.
