Despite having over half a dozen movies on his overfull plate, superstar Akshay Kumar is open to signing more projects. If latest reports are to be believed, the National award-winning actor, who was last seen in the R Balki-helmed ‘Pad Man’ (2018), has inked a three-film deal with one of the premier production houses of India, Yash Raj Films.
The deal will mark Kumar’s return to Yash Raj Films after a decade. The last YRF film which he did for the banner was ‘Tashan’ which hit screens in 2008 and turned out to be a moderate success. “Akshay Kumar and Aditya Chopra have been discussing on the possibility of working together since a long time, and finally things have fallen in place. There are three scripts, for which YRF is in talks with Akshay Kumar, and one of them will go on floors next year. In all possibilities, the first film from the deal will release during the Republic Day 2020 weekend,” a source reveals.
Recently, we had reported that Kumar has been approached by Yash Raj Films for a period film, to be directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi. This untitled project is said to be a biopic on king Prithviraj Chauhan and could be the first instalment of the three-film deal Kumar has, reportedly, signed with the production house. The source adds that all the three films of the deal boast of exciting scripts. They will mount the shooting floor one by one. The first film which is expected to go to the sets is Prithviraj Chauhan’s biopic.
Talking about Kumar’s upcoming release, the actor will shortly be seen in Reema Kagti’s ‘Gold’, followed by ‘2.0’, ‘Kesari’ and ‘Housefull 4’. He is also in talks with Karan Johar for a matured love story, featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan as the female lead.
