Films are raining for National award-winning actors Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao. The actors, who first starred together in Vikas Bahl’s coming-of-age movie ‘Queen’ (2014), are currently working on Ekta Kapoor’s hotly anticipated psychological thriller ‘Mental Hai Kya’. Apart from that, both stars have almost half a dozen movies in their pockets. And if latest reports are anything to go by, the duo has signed their third venture after ‘Queen’ and ‘Mental Hai Kya’.
Yes, reports are swirling around that Rao has come onboard to join hands with Kangana for filmmaker Anurag Basu’s forthcoming directorial, ‘Imali’. Though the project has not been announced officially, it’s in the works and Ranaut recently confirmed the same. “Rajkummar has been signed for the film opposite Kangana. This is his first film with Basu. He is very excited to work with him, as it was always his dream to be a part of an Anurag Basu movie. Raj also happens to be a fan of love stories, so that makes this all the more special,” a source reveals.
If all goes well, ‘Imali’ will begin production at the year-end. Meanwhile, after completing the ongoing schedule of ‘Mental Hai Kya’, Kangana will finish some patchwork for her much-awaited historical film, ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’. Helmed by Krish and also starring Sonu Sood and Ankita Lokhande in pivotal parts, the period drama releases in the last quarter of 2018. The ‘Queen’ star is also collaborating with ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ (2017) fame Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari for a movie on Kabaddi. On the other hand, Rajkummar Rao is about to wrap up ‘Fanne Khan’ with Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. His other soon-to-be-released projects include ‘Stree’, ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’, ‘5 Weddings’, ‘Swagat Hai’ and ‘Made In China’.
