After finishing her forthcoming movie ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ in Dehradun, actress Shraddha Kapoor has now started preparing for her next movie, ‘Saina’. To be helmed by well-known writer-director Amol Gupte, who has previously directed ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’ (2011), and ‘Hawa Hawai’ (2014),‘Saina’ is a biopic on ace badminton player Saina Nehwal. The film was expected to roll last year but it had to be put on the backburner for some reasons. However, now the makers are all set to start the project in next few months.
For Shraddha, it will not be the first time when she headlines a biopic. She has earlier starred in the Apoorva Lakhia directed ‘Haseena Parkar’, which was based on Dawood Ibrahim’s sister, Haseena Parkar. But ‘Saina’ is going to be a challenging film for Shraddha as it requires her to learn to play badminton. To get into the skin of her character, Kapoor has already begun learning the nuances of the game. Apparently, Saina Nehwal wants Shraddha to perfect the game before she kick-starts the shoot. For the same, the ‘Haider’ (2014) actress has been training under Indian team head coach Pullela Gopichand. Talking about the film, Kapoor had said earlier that movies like this will inspire more people to take up sports as career, especially badminton.
Shraddha, who was last seen in ‘Haseena Parkar’, has a number of plum projects in her hand at the moment. Besides, ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ with Shahid Kapoor, and ‘Saina’, the talented actress also plays the female lead in upcoming films such as ‘Stree’ and ‘Saaho’. ‘Stree’, produced by Dinesh Vijan, stars National award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao as the male lead. On the other hand, Shraddha romances ‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas in the Sujeeth directorial ‘Saaho’.
Saina is expected to hit screens in the first half of 2019.
