Known for making films with an ample dose of politics, social injustice and bureaucratic inefficiency, award-winning filmmaker Prakash Jha is now taking a break from his usual style of filmmaking to explore new subjects. According to latest reports, the director, who last directed ‘Jai Gangaajal’ (2016) with Priyanka Chopra, is planning to helm a film which is said to be a heist drama, something which Jha has never attempted before. We also hear that the seasoned filmmaker has roped in superstar Sanjay Dutt and Sidharth Malhotra to headline the project.
According to reports, Jha’s next features two male actors. The director wanted actors who could do full justice to their characters and hence he approached Sanjay and Sidharth regarding the project. Both actors have, reportedly, liked the script and have agreed to come onboard. Since none of the two has worked with Prakash Jha before, so it will be really interesting to see how this unique collaboration turns out to be.
While Sanjay Dutt and Sidharth Malhotra have been finalized to play the male leads in the untitled film, the makers are yet to lock the actresses who play the female parts. An official announcement with the whole cast is expected to be made soon. The makers are planning to begin shooting by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, this new yet-to-be-titled film is the latest addition to Sanjay Dutt’s overflowing kitty of films. He has almost over half a dozen movies on his plate, including ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3’, ‘Torbaaz’, ‘Kalank’, ‘Shamshera’, ‘Housefull 4’, ‘Blockbuster’, ‘Prasthaanam’ and ‘Panipat’. On the other hand, Sidharth Malhotra is currently preparing for Dharma Productions’ Vikram Batra biopic. He has also signed Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming production, ‘Shotgun Shaadi’.
