Buzz has it that Salman Khan’s highly anticipated Eid release ‘Race 3’, which is just a few days away from its grand premiere, has fetched a bomb by selling its satellite rights for a humongous Rs. 130 crores. If reports are true and figures not fabricated, this is one of the biggest satellites deals ever signed in Indian film industry.
Looks like the film has started smashing records even before hitting the silver screen. ‘Race 3’ has left Aamir Khan’s much-loved biographical drama ‘Dangal’ (2016) far behind in terms of satellite rights earnings. The Nitesh Tiwari directorial was sold for Rs. 75 crores, which was the highest until ‘Race 3’ came along and toppled its record.
Though the reports of ‘Race 3’ garnering Rs. 130 crores through satellite rights are swirling around since morning, no official statement has been released to corroborate the figures. Earlier, it was being reported that the makers were looking at selling the rights for an astronomical price of Rs. 150 crores. However, no deal could materialize then. Now, the film has reportedly sealed a deal with a leading television network. Salman’s last film ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ too was sold for a mindblowing figure.
Apart from Salman Khan, ‘Race 3’ also features Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Saqib Saleem. The film is the third instalment of the super successful Hindi film franchise ‘Race’, which began in 2008. Helmed by choreographer-turned-filmmaker Remo D’souza, the action entertainer is produced by Salman Khan and Ramesh Taurani under Salman Khan Films and Tips Films banners.
‘Race 3’ rolls into cinemas on 15th June, 2018.
