We keep hearing about a box-office clash between the films of two big stars more often than not. But we rarely hear about a star clashing with her own film at the ticket counter. But come August 31st, 2018, and the audience will see actress Shraddha Kapoor locking horns with her own film at the box-office. Yes, the actress, who was last seen in ‘Haseena Parkar’ (2017), will battle it out with her own movie as her next ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is poised for its theatrical bow on the same day as ‘Stree’.
While the makers of ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ had announced the release date of their film well in advance, the makers of ‘Stree’ revealed the date recently, when they unveiled a teaser of the horror-comedy flick a couple of days ago. So, now the question arises: Will the producers of any of the movie postpone or prepone their film or they stick to 31st August and clash?
If a production insider from ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is to be believed, they will not shift their film from 31st August. “August 31 was always our date. (After this release) Shahid will start working on ‘Arjun Reddy’ so that he can wrap up that film and be free before the arrival of his second baby. A meeting between the producers (of the two film) has to be conducted to ensure that the situation be sorted soon,” says the insider.
Apart from Shraddha Kapoor, ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ also stars Shahid Kapoor and Yami Gautam in lead roles. ‘Stree’, on the other hand, has Rajkummar Rao. It marks the first collaboration between the two actors.
After the release of ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ and ‘Stree’, Shraddha will be seen opposite ‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas in the upcoming action entertainer, ‘Saaho’. She also plays ace badminton player Saina Nehwal in her biopic, titled ‘Saina’.
