Riding high on the success of her recent release ‘Raazi’, actress Alia Bhatt has started shooting for Dharma Productions fantasy drama ‘Brahmastra’, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy. But besides ‘Brahmastra’, the talented actress is also in news for signing a film with ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ (2016) and ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ (2017) fame director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari. Though Bhatt and Tiwari both have confirmed their collaboration, there has been no update on the plot of the film.
However, if a report published on a premier entertainment portal is to be believed, the untitled film is going to be an official remake of 2014 French comedy-drama, ‘La Famille Bélier’. If the report has any authenticity, Alia might play a singer in the movie, who, upon discovering her talents, aspires to become a professional singer. According to a source, the script for the Hindi remake will undergo a lot of changes so that it resonates with the Indian audiences.
When director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari was asked about the movie earlier, she had said, “It’s happening next year. I am very happy and filled with gratitude for the story that I’ll be doing with Alia. Without a doubt, Alia will light up the screen with her acting prowess, besides being the nicest human. It will be an added perk.”
Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena led Phantom Films will bankroll the project along with Reliance Entertainment. The film goes on floors in the second half of 2019.
Meanwhile, Alia will next be seen in filmmaker Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming directorial, ‘Gully Boy’, where she stars opposite Ranveer Singh. It marks the first collaboration between both the successful actors.
