Shah Rukh Khan’s space odyssey film ‘Salute’ to now roll in October

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is currently shooting for his next ‘Zero’, has not announced any project after the Aanand L Rai directorial venture. However, industry insiders confirm that the ‘Chak De! India’ (2007) actor has signed producer Siddharth Roy Kapur’s much-talked-about space odyssey film, titled ‘Salute’. The film is, actually, a biopic on Rakesh Sharma, an astronaut and the only Indian citizen to travel in space. Khan is expected to play the astronaut in the movie.

SRK was supposed to start shooting for ‘Salute’ in September, right after wrapping up ‘Zero’. However, the latest we hear that ‘Zero’ will take a little more time in production and hence, the makers of ‘Salute’ have decided to postpone their film by a month. So, now the superstar will start shooting for the space odyssey film from September onwards.

”SRK’s dates for ‘Salute’ are yet to be locked. After the dates are finalized and the cast has been signed on, the film’s makers will make an official announcement. Though the movie was initially planned to go on floors this September, it is now being deferred by a month and will begin only in October,” a source reveals to a popular entertainment portal.

For the uninitiated, ‘Salute’ was earlier offered to Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan, who bowed out of it due to some creative differences with the makers. Later, the project went to Shah Rukh Khan. Talking about the leading lady of the movie, Kareena Kapoor Khan is leading the race to bag the role.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh might also team up with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani for ‘Don 3’ anytime soon. The project has been in the pipeline for a long time now.
